FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I see the yarns and colors live?
Yes 😊
Many yarns and plant-dyed skeins look completely different in real life than they do in pictures. That's why I'm always happy when you visit my little shop and can take your time looking at everything.
Do you also offer online consultations?
Of course.
If you're unsure about yarns, colors, or needles, please feel free to contact me. Together we'll figure out what suits your project.
I'm lost when it comes to yarns – can you help?
Of course 😊
Not every wool suits every project, and sometimes the choice just feels overwhelming. Together, we'll find out what really suits you, your project, and your hands.
🌿 Plant-Dyed Yarns
Why do plant-dyed yarns sometimes look different?
Plant dyes are made from natural materials and react to many small influences. That's precisely why no two batches are alike – and that's what gives them their special character.
Can plant-dyed yarns be dyed exactly the same way again later?
No – and that's precisely what makes them so special 😊
Every plant-dyed batch is a unique piece.
Colors are created from natural materials like blossoms, bark, or roots and can never be reproduced identically.
Even if the same plants are used, the season, water, temperature, and many small details can influence the result.
That's where the beauty of plant-dyed yarns lies for me:
Each batch tells its own little story.
If you need several skeins for a larger project, I therefore recommend purchasing the required quantity together as directly as possible.
Can plant-dyed yarns bleed color?
Yes, especially strong or darker colors may release some excess dye during the first wash. Therefore, I recommend gentle hand washing with a good wool detergent.
Why should hand-dyed or plant-dyed wool be worked alternately?
Hand-dyed and plant-dyed yarns are produced in small batches and can show slight variations even within a single dye lot.
This is part of the character of these special yarns.
To ensure that color nuances are distributed as harmoniously as possible in the finished project, I recommend working alternately with two skeins.
This creates soft transitions and minimizes any noticeable differences.
If you're unsure how this works, please feel free to contact me 😊
🧵 Care & Processing
Do I have to hand wash my wool?
That depends on the yarn.
Many high-quality yarns prefer a gentle and careful approach. Therefore, with a few exceptions, I recommend hand washing with a good wool detergent.
Some yarns, such as certain sock yarns, may also be gently machine-washed on a wool program, depending on the manufacturer. Nevertheless, it's always worth checking the specific care instructions for the yarn.
You can find detailed information in my care instructions.
📦 Shipping, Returns & Orders
What are the shipping costs?
The current shipping costs will be displayed during the checkout process.
How long does shipping take?
I strive to ship orders as quickly as possible. Since many things are prepared with care and attention, processing may take a little time in some individual cases.
Do you also ship outside of Germany?
Currently, I ship within Germany. For inquiries from other countries, please feel free to contact me directly.
Can I return a yarn if I don't like the color or quality?
Honest advice is important to me, so that mistaken purchases are avoided as much as possible.
If you are unsure about colors, qualities, or the right wool, please feel free to contact me before placing your order.
If, despite this, something is not to your satisfaction, please send me an email at info@die-wollboutique.de , including your order number.
Direct exchanges are not possible.
However, you can return your order within the statutory withdrawal period. Upon receipt of the return, the amount will be refunded to you within 14 days.
Can I return leftover wool after my project?
Please understand that yarns already purchased cannot be returned after a project has been completed.
Especially with wool, dye lots, individual project quantities, and limited stock play an important role. That's why I prefer to plan carefully with my customers so that as little as possible is left over.
If you are unsure about the required quantity, please feel free to contact me before placing your order. I will be happy to help you with the planning.
